Fellowship Program (ages 14-19)

“Diplomacy is about the big picture.”

GCC’s Fellowship Program follows a unique multi-step process to learn, practice, apply, and demonstrate the arts of compromise and diplomacy. This program spans 8 weeks, culminating in a capstone project. Some fellows will be offered the opportunity to join a GCC internal team.

Anyone is welcome to join the Fellowship, regardless of experience. All Fellows engage in live educational seminars taught by our GCC Team on topics such as the art of negotiation, compromise, and diplomacy to boost their skills for later activities and projects.

Starting with contextualization through research, GCC Fellows gain knowledge of various cultures, issues, proposed solutions, and positions around the world and at home through preparational worksheets and presentations in order to have a complete understanding of all sides of a topic they are asked to work on.

Fellows practice the diplomatic methods that they have been exposed to by presenting and defending a side of a given topic in preparation for the application portion of the program.

After practicing compromise on their own, Fellows apply their knowledge and attempt to reach compromises with opposing viewpoints in real-time through debates and mock negotiations.

After these training exercises, Fellows demonstrate their knowledge through a capstone project (ie. an essay, presentation, or film).

The fellows also have the opportunity to engage with working professionals actively working to combat political polarization and promote compromise.
